We welcome Angus Douglas who will be presenting Soul of the White African up at the yoga circle, preceded by a guided meditation and followed by lunch at the river. In his own words:
“Soul of the White African is a humorous and entertaining exploration of some of life’s most perplexing questions: how did we get here, and where are we going? Jan Smuts gets a look in, as does Herman Charles Bosman, Alan Paton, Jan Hofmeyr and Miss Smitherman – my Class Two psychopath…I mean Class Two teacher. It’s fun and feisty and I promise to stop talking as soon as the audience gets bored. And yes, we Umlungus do have soul!
About me: Angus Douglas is a writer, sort of; Springbok supporter – when they’re not losing to Argentina; South African patriot (he had no choice when they turned down his application for Australian residency); and lover of the soil…the African soil.
The aim is to have a laugh and leave enough gaps in the talk to hear the wind in the trees.”
